CJ-series PROFINET IO Controller Unit Operation Manual for NJ-series CPU Unit (W511)
The following format conversions are required:
•
On the PROFINET IO network, the text strings are handled as a sequence of 8-bit bytes, but the
storage in the CPU data area is following the (unsigned 16-bit) word storage method, i.e. the
bytes are stored in a high-byte/ low-byte sequence.
•
If the number of text characters is even, all bytes will fit in the words, but one additional word must
be set to 0000. If the number of bytes is odd, the last byte of the sequence will be mapped to the
high-byte of the last word. The low-byte of the last word must be padded with a 0.
In case of transmissions of text strings, the trailing zero byte or word is not transmitted along with
the string.
