MONITOR OUTPUT MENU
♦
The
Pink Noise Left
and
Pink Noise Right
controls turn the pink noise generator in each channel on or
off.
♦
The
Left Level
and
Right Level
controls allow you to adjust the output gain of each channel individually
and act as a sort of “balance” control in situations where the left and right speakers are not equally spaced
from the monitor point.
♦
Master
Bypass Gain
and
Left Level
and
Right Level
sliders are also provided when the Monitor Outputs
are in bypass mode.
♦
The
Solo Left
and Solo Right
controls allow you to monitor only the left or only the right channel.
♦
The
Left High Pass Filter
and
Right High Pass Filter
controls allow you to set the high pass filter cutoff
point to avoid over-driving small speakers. When calibrating smaller bass-shy speakers, there will come
a point where you can no longer compensate for such a deficiency by EQ-ing, and it is more practical to
simply not try and pass those frequencies at all. That point will be clear on the RTA and is explained in
more detail in the Speaker Calibration section.
There are four additional sub-menus in the
Main
menu:
X-Over, Delay/Phase, Channel Coupling,
and
Protection
Limiting.
♦
The
X-Over
menu contains the controls for the
Volume-based High Pass Filter.
¸
The
Volume-based High Pass Filter
provides a means by which adjust the high pass filter frequency on
the monitor outputs as the volume level is raised. This can help protect smaller monitor speakers by
reducing the amount of low frequency energy routed to them at higher listening levels.
