NAME RESET
With the NAME RESET function, the camera does not hold the file num-
ber of the image in memory. Instead, the camera stores files with numbers
that are sequential from the largest file number in the highest-numbered
folder on the card. Even when switching between the SmartMedia and
CompactFlash, or when the card is changed, or even when the power is
switched off and then on again, the camera assigns numbers to new files
according to file numbers on the currently selected card.
To restore the original condition (with folder number 100 and file number
0001) after the AUTO FILE function or AUTO FOLDER function has been
used, select the NAME RESET function and then re-format the card.
When erasing all images instead of re-formatting the card, switch the
power off and then on again and take pictures with the NAME RESET
function.
Notes for Using the AUTO FILE and AUTO FOLDER Functions
• Automatic Switching Function in the AUTO FILE and AUTO FOLDER Modes
When the number of folders on the selected card reaches 999 during shooting with the file name mode set to “AUTO FILE”
or “AUTO FOLDER”, the file name mode is automatically switched to “NAME RESET”.
From this point, the “NAME RESET” mode is set automatically even when “AUTO FILE” or “AUTO FOLDER” mode is select-
ed on the menu. (Placing the cursor on “AUTO FILE” or “AUTO FOLDER” in the menu and pressing [OK] will select the
“NAME RESET” mode. The menu for the “NAME RESET” mode is displayed automatically.)
When a card containing a folder numbered 999 is loaded in the camera and selected, the file name mode is set automati-
cally to “NAME RESET”.
Once the file name mode is set to “NAME RESET”, it will not return to the “AUTO FILE” or “AUTO FOLDER” mode. To return
to “AUTO FILE” or “AUTO FOLDER” mode, set the menu before the number of folders reaches 999.
• CARD FULL Display and Countermeasure
When number of folders reaches 999 and the number of files in Folder 999 reaches 9999, the card can no longer be used
for shooting even if sufficient capacity is available. “0” blinks in the display on the control panel.
In this case, save all files on the card to another medium via PC, then perform the all-frame clearing or formatting operation
with the camera to enable shooting.
Once card data is erased by all-frame clearing or formatting, it cannot be recovered. Be sure to save the data to another
medium before executing either of these operations.
