Text Conventions
To impart information that is consistent and memorable, the following text conventions are used in
this Operator’s Guide:
Numbered Listing
Describes the steps in a procedure that must be performed in the order
listed.
Italic type
Important notes and information notes are shown in italic type.
Orange italic type
Refers to a different section in this Operator’s Guide.
Symbols
In this Operator’s Guide symbols are used as a visual signal to highlight important points.
Symbol
Heading
Description
WARNING
This symbol is used to indicate that noncompliance with
instructions or procedures could lead to physical injury or even
death or could cause damage to the instrument.
BIOHAZARD
This symbol indicates that certain precautions must be taken
when working with potentially infectious sample material.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Information critical to the success of the procedure or use of
the product.
INFORMATION NOTE
Additional information about the current topic or procedure.
