TRANSMISSION
CONFIDENTIAL TRANSMISSION
When documents are confidential you can adopt a special procedure which assigns a password consisting of
four alphanumeric characters to each document to be sent. Instead of being printed immediately by the
receiving machine, the document will be stored in a specific location in the memory (private mailbox). It can
be printed once the password has been entered. The password must be selected previously in agreement
between the users of the transmitting and receiving facsimile machines.
This kind of transmission can only be carried out between compatible facsimile machines that have the private
mailbox feature.
This section explains how to set confidential transmission. To cancel a confidential transmission operation, see
the “Connection activities” section of the “MEMORY” chapter.
o
The facsimile machine is on. The document has been inserted and prepared for transmission (see the
“BEFORE TRANSMISSION/COPYING” chapter). Position the mask (right-hand section of the console)
to display the function keys.
1.
Press CONFID.
2.
Type the password (max. 4 alphanumeric
characters).
Each character is entered first by pressing the
∨∨∨∨∨
or
∧∧∧∧∧
keys until the character you want is displayed and
then by pressing the CONFIRM key to confirm
selection. (For an overall view of the alphanumeric
characters available, see the “CHARACTER SET
TABLE” chapter).
If you want to delete an entire setting, press CLEAR.
If you want to make a few corrections, move the
cursor to the digit/character to be changed (using
the < or > key) and overwrite it with the new digit/
character.
3.
Press START to confirm the password set.
4.
It is now possible to send the document from the
memory or the ADF; follow the procedure described
in the sections “Transmission from the memory”
and “Transmission from the ADF” earlier in this
chapter.
