5. In Pro Tools, select ‘Peripherals’ from the Setup’ menu and then select the ‘MIDI Controllers’ page in the Peripherals
window. Set ‘Type’ to HUI and ‘Send To’ and ‘Receive From’ to ‘SL Compact Port 2’, then click ‘OK’:
The Pro Tools Automap template (template 34) must be selected on the SL Compact to use it in Pro Tools Automap mode.
Once you have followed the above set up instructions, the SL Compact will automatically switch to the Pro Tools Automap
template and will do so each time you subsequently start Pro Tools. Whilst using the SL Compact in Pro Tools Automap
mode, you can switch to any other template on the unit (for example to control a soft-synth using a standard template) and
then switch back to the Pro Tools Automap template to control Pro Tools again.
You can use the SL Compact to control the Pro Tools mixer as follows:
The encoders can control track levels, panning, as well as send levels and panning (in FLIP Mode, see below). The
ENCODERS GROUP SELECT SWITCHES determine what the encoders control. ENCODERS GROUP A controls panning of the
Left channel for a stereo track, whilst ENCODERS GROUP B controls panning of the right channel. ENCODERS GROUP A
should be used for the panning of a mono track. ENCODERS GROUP C controls track levels.
The 8 assignable buttons can be used to control solos, mutes and record arming. The BUTTONS GROUP SELECT
SWITCHES determine what the buttons control. BUTTONS GROUP B1 controls solos. BUTTONS GROUP B2 controls record
arming. BUTTONS GROUP B3 controls mutes.
