6.5.4 PC-ACV
PC-ACV (Pressure Controlled– Assist Control Ventilation) is a ventilation mode in which the
ventilator controls the ventilation, but it can be influenced by the patient. The inspiration and
expiration are pressure controlled. The patient can breathe spontaneously during inspiration and
expiration.
The strokes are time cycled with a fixed inspiratory time and a fixed expiratory time, when the
patient does not breathe spontaneously. However, during expiration an inspiration can be
triggered by the patient. This can lead to an increase of the breathing frequency or respiratory
rate(RR).
