1-18 Technical Information
With 4 MB of video EDO DRAM, the system supports the following resolutions, colors,
and refresh rates:
1280 by 1024 pixels, 256 colors, 43 Hz
1024 by 768 pixels, 256/64K colors, 60 Hz, 66 Hz, 70 Hz, 72 Hz, and 75 Hz
800 by 600 pixels, 256/64K/16.8 million colors, 56 Hz, 60 Hz, 72 Hz, and 75 Hz
640 by 480 pixels, 16/256/64K/16.8/32 bit million colors, 56 Hz, 60 Hz, 72 Hz,
and 75 Hz.
AMI Multimedia Channel (AMC/VFC) Connector
In addition to the standard VGA connector, the system provides an AMC/VFC connector
on the system board to maximize multimedia performance. The connector is available for
connecting multimedia building components, such as MPEG, or video capture modules to
the system board. Multiple protocols are also supported through the same connector, as
follows:
Standard VMC mode
Digital video stream (DVS) mode
MPEG data port (MDP) mode or multimedia peripheral port (MPP) mode.
Standard VFC Mode
The VESA-compliant feature connector (VFC) interface synchronizes graphics output and
lets pass-through signals from a video add-in board use the system’s VGA circuits.
DVS Mode
In digital video stream (DVS) mode, the interface is configured as a synchronous input port.
This allows the graphics controllers to be directly connected to certain video decoders
through the AMC interface. Some video decoders may require additional logic to encode
the synchronization information within the data stream. In DVS mode, the AMC consists of
three independent signal groups:
8-bit data bus
two-wire serial bus
audio interface.
