Repair 5-9

Suspend Switch and Reset Switch Removal

Remove the suspend switch or reset switch cable assembly per the following steps.

1.

Remove the system unit cover and front panel as previously described.

CAUTION:

The cable connectors for the hard

drive LED, power LED, sleep switch, and reset
switch plug into the inside of the front panel. The
front panel must be removed before these cables
can be disconnected.

Take extreme care when removing the front
panel; do not pull it too far from the chassis or
the cables may be strained or broken.

2.

Unplug the switch assembly cable from its connector on the system board.

3.

Working from the inside of the front panel, press the two switch holder tabs away
from the switch connector and pull the connector out of the switch holder.

4.

Pull the switch assembly cable through the cutout on the front of the unit.

5.

Remove the switch cable assembly from the system unit.

6.

The suspend or reset button may also need to be removed. Working from the
inside of the front panel, locate the button through the cutout in the switch holder.

7.

Push on the button through the cutout to free it from the front panel.

NOTE:

The button is quite small (1/2-inch by

1/4-inch by 1/4-inch). Set it aside in a safe place
while working on the system.
