Flash Card Removal and
Replacement
Field deployed ZephIR systems can be accessed for data
download via the integrated GSM modem. Access to
the system using GSM is provided by the ZephIR dial-up
application.
ZephIR systems store data onto a removable compact flash
card which is stored in the customer interface panel located
on the front of the system.
The flash card stores in excess of 365 days worth of wind
data and 3 days of raw averaged spectrum for more in-
depth analysis of wind conditions where required.
Due to the volume of data stored in averaged spectra it is
not practical to download it over the GSM link.
Accessing of averaged spectra can be achieved by removing
the flash card or downloading the information onto a PC or
laptop using the ZephIR Ethernet application software.
Removing the flash card
Note : Without a flash card the system will be unable to
record wind data.
To enable flash card removal, the customer interface panel
on the front of the system should be removed using the
four ‘PinHead’ allen screws.
The flash card is located within the customer interface
enclosure, behind a secondary panel, which must be
removed to gain access.
Prior to removing the flash card, the ZephIR should be
shutdown. This can be done by pressing the power button
on the rear of the unit or selecting ‘Power Off’ from the
application software ‘Action’ menu.
The panel is opened by releasing the four ‘PinHead’ allen
screws located on the four corners of the panel.
Once the panel is opened, the flash card is located in the
top left corner of the housing.
The flash card is released by pushing the ejection button on
the compact flash slot. It must then be pulled out the rest of
the way by hand.
A new card can now be re-inserted and the system returned
to operation by pushing the main power switch on the back
of the ZephIR.
Compatible flash cards
Due to differences in manufacturers memory configurations,
not all flashcards are compatible with the ZephIR system, for
reference the following cards can be used:

Silicon Systems SSD-C04GI-3500
•
SanDisk Extreme III
Formatting a flash card
Prior to use in the ZephIR system, the following procedure
should be used to format the flash card:
1.
Insert the compact flash card into a PC.
2.
Open ‘My Computer’, normally found on the desktop.
3.
Right click on the compact flash drive and select
‘Format’.
4.
Optionally name the compact flash card then click
‘Start’.
5.
Once formatting is complete, right click on the
compact flash drive and select ‘Eject’ before removing it.
As a last resort, the ‘Format File System’ option may
be selected from the actions menu, but this is not
recommended.
