Software Installation
ZephIR systems are supplied with the following
applications;
•
ZephIR PC software
•
Lantronix Comm Port Redirector
•
Lantronix Device Installer
The Lantronix programs are only required if the ZephIR is being
used over a network or direct PC/Laptop Connection.
Installing the ZephIR PC Software
The ZephIR PC software provides a visual interface to the
ZephIR unit. To install this software, insert the software CD.
The list of files on the CD should automatically open. If not,
double-click on ‘My Computer’ and then on the CD drive.
Double-click on ‘ZephIR-setup’ on the CD. This will launch
the installer which will place the required components on
the PC.
Run the ZephIR software by selecting:
‘Start’ >’Programs’ >’QinetiQ’ >’ZephIR’ >’ZephIR’.
The following window should open:
Installing the Lantronix Software
This step is only required to use the ZephIR over a network
or direct PC/Laptop connection.
Device Installer
Double-click on ‘Device Installer’ on the USB Stick. This will
launch the installer to place the Lantronix Device Installer
on the PC. Note that this requires Microsoft .NET Framework
already installed. This can be obtained from the Microsoft
website (www.microsoft.com) if required.
Connect the ZephIR unit to the network and turn it on.
Run the Device Installer software by selecting:
‘Start’>’Programs’>’Lantronix’ >’DeviceInstaller’
>’DeviceInstaller’.
The following window will appear:
‘Start’>’Programs’>’Lantronix’>’DeviceInstaller’
>’DeviceInstaller’.
The following window will appear:
Click on the ‘search’ button to make the ‘XPort’ device(s)
appear in the list. This is the ZephIR. If no devices are found,
try connecting directly between the PC and the ZephIR
with a cross–over cable. If it still fails, set the PC’s IP address
to 192.168.1.10 and try again.
Highlight the ‘XPort’ device in the right hand panel and click
on ‘Assign IP’. The following window will appear:
