Extended Exposure Modes
To expose film for longer than 30 seconds, set the shutter speed to "B" (Bulb) or "T" (Time).
In order to prevent camera shake, use an electromagnetic or mechanical cable release and a tripod.
Bulb Mode
Bulb Mode uses electronic control, so the batteries are in constant use during
the entire exposure.
1. While pressing the Exposure Mode Setting Dial
Lock Release Button (A), turn the Exposure Mode
Setting Dial to "M" (Manual Mode).
2. Turn the Front Dial counterclockwise to select
"bulb", and then turn the Rear Dial to select the
aperture.
3. Compose your subject, focus, and then take
the photograph. The shutter will remain open
as long as the Shutter Release Button is pressed.
Bulb Mode is controlled by an electronic circuit, so the camera consumes electrical
power during the exposure.
Time Mode
Time Mode uses mechanical control, so no battery power is consumed during the exposure.
1. While pressing the Exposure Mode Setting Dial
Lock Release Button (A), turn the Exposure Mode
Setting Dial to "T" (Time Mode).
2. Turn the Front or Rear Dials to set the aperture.
3. Compose your subject, focus, and then fully
depress the Shutter Release Button to open the
shutter.
4. After the desired exposure, while pressing the Exposure Mode Setting Dial Lock
Release Button (A), turn the Exposure Mode Setting Dial to "X". Time Mode is
canceled and the shutter will close.
Backlight Button
To view the Main LCD Panel at night or in dark
places, press the Backlight Button (A).
The light will turn off after about 10 seconds
unless there is another operation.
When releasing the shutter, or pressing the Backlight Button, while the light is on,
the light will turn off.
When operating the camera when the Backlight is on will extend the lighting interval
for another 10 seconds.
