USER MANUAL – ENG
Important
Please read and remember the following instructions before use to assure
your own safety. If you have any questions, please contact the manufactu
-
rer or your distributor. Keep the manual for future reference. The welding
helmet should be used only for the purposes listed in this manual.
1.
Introduction
Welding helmet AerTEC™ YOGA and Welding helmet CA-27 YOGA have
been assessed and found to be in accordance with the essential health and
safety requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of the European Parlia
-
ment and the Council on personal protective equipment. There are two
main variants of product – welding helmet AerTEC™ YOGA and welding
helmet CA-27 YOGA. Welding helmet AerTEC™ YOGA is the basic vari
-
ant of the product, certified according to EN 166:2001 and EN 175:1997-
08. It provides protection against harmful ultraviolet / infrared radiation,
welding spatters and high speed particles (indicated: B). Welding helmet
CA-27 YOGA represents the improved version of welding helmet Aer
-
TEC™ YOGA and is adapted for use with powered air purifying respirators
(hereinafter PAPR) CleanAIR
®
or with continuous flow compressed air line
breathing apparatuses (hereinafter “compressed air systems CleanAIR
®
)
and thus provides protection of the respiratory tract. The variant CA-27
YOGA is additionally certified according to EN 12941:1998+A2:2008 and
EN 14594:2005.
CleanAIR
®
is a system of personal respiratory protection based on the
principle of overpressure of filtered air in the breathing zone. The respira
-
tor is placed on the wearer’s belt and filtrates the air which is taken in from
the surrounding environment and then delivers it through the airduct into
the protective helmet. The overpressure prevents contaminants from en-
tering the breathing zone. This mild overpressure at the same time ensu-
res the wearer’s comfort, even with long-term use, as the wearer does not
have to struggle in their breathing to overcome the resistance of the filter.
2. Limitations on use
Limitations for welding helmets AerTEC™ YOGA and
CA-27 YOGA
1. If work requires a protection against high-speed particles at extreme
temperatures make sure that visor has an marking T on it.
2.
Material of the helmet can cause allergic reactions to sensitive person.
3.
Do not use tempered mineral filters without suitable protection foils.
4.
The welding arc damages unprotected eyes!
5. The welding arc may burn unprotected skin!
6. Pay attention to checking the product before use. Do not use, if any
part of the system is damaged.
7. Don’t put the welding helmet on hot surface.
8. Replace protection filter immediately, if it is damaged, or if spatter or
scratches reduce vision.
Additional limitations for CA-27 YOGA version
1. Never use the helmet in the following environments and under the fo
-
llowing conditions:
•
If oxygen concentration in the environment is lower than 17 %.
•
In oxygen-enriched environments.
•
In explosive ambience.
•
In environments where the user lacks knowledge about the kind of
dangerous substance and its concentration.
•
In environments that represent an immediate threat to the life and
health.
•
If you are not sure, that shade number of your welding filter lens is
suitable for your work.
•
The helmet does not protect against hard shocks, explosions or
corrosive substances.
•
Do not use in environments where the user does not know the type
of contamination or its concentration.
•
Do not use when the powered air purifying respirator is turned off
or when the compressed air inlet is closed! In this case the respi
-
ratory system, incorporating a helmet, gives little or no respirato-
ry protection. Also there is a risk of a high concentration of carbon
dioxide (CO2) building up and of oxygen deficiency occurring inside
the headpiece.
2. Move to a secure location and take appropriate measures when any of
the following problems occur while using the helmet:
•
If the PAPR or the compressed air system cease to operate for any
reason whatsoever, the user must leave the contaminated workplace
without delay.
•
If you experience stench or irritation or an unpleasant taste while
breathing.
•
If you feel unwell or if you experience nausea.
3.
Use certified original filters designed for your powered air purifying re
-
spirator only. Replace filters every time you detect change of odour in
supplied air from the respirator.
4. Filters designed for capturing solid and liquid particles (particle fil
-
ters) do not protect the user against any gases. Filters designed for
capturing gases do not protect the user against any particles. In the
workplace contaminated with both types of pollution, combined filters
must be used.
3. Control and maintenance
AerTEC™ YOGA is a complete welding helmet consisting of the welding
shield including auto-darkening filter and headband. Version CA-27 has
additional air distribution. Lifetime of the helmet and visors is influenced
by many factors such as: cold, heat, chemicals, sunlight or incorrect use.
The helmet should be checked on a daily basis of possible damage of its
inside or outside structure.
Careful use and correct maintenance of welding helmet enhances opera
-
ting life and improves your safety!
Checking before use:
•
Inspect that the protection plates are undamaged, clean and installed
correctly. Replace lens immediately, if it is damaged, or if spatter or
scratches reduce vision.
•
Inspect that the welding filter lens is undamaged and clean. The da
-
maged welding filter lens impairs protection and visibility and must be
replaced immediately.
•
Make sure that the shade number of welding filter lens is appropriate for
your work (according to „6. Filter shade number selection“).
•
Inspect that the welding helmet and headgear are undamaged.
•
Inspect that welding shield is completely closed when lowered.
Cleaning:
•
After each work shift, clean the head section, check individual parts,
and replace damaged parts.
•
Cleaning must be performed in a room with sufficient ventilation. Avoid
inhalation of harmful dust settled on individual parts!
•
For cleaning, use lukewarm water (up to +40 °C) with soap or other
non-abrasive detergent, and a soft brush.
•
It is prohibited to use cleaning agents with solvents.
•
After cleaning individual parts with a damp cloth, it is necessary to rub
them dry, or let them dry at room temperature.
•
It is recommended to use CleanAIR
®
®
klar-pilot Fluids for caring of the
visors and plastic parts.
DO NOT USE DISHWASHER OR DRYER!
DO NOT USE ACETONE OR OTHER CLEANING SOLVENTS!
Grinding / Welding mode selection
(see Pictorial annex)
Choose between GRIND / WELD mode by switching the mode button.
Once GRIND mode is activated, the shade is fixed in the light state
allowing a clear view. Make sure WELD mode is being enabled before
starting welding.
Shade level selection
(see Pictorial annex)
Adjust the shade level by rotating the SHADE knob. To select the proper
shade level, please follow the “Filter shade selection” table.
Delay time adjustment
(see Pictorial annex)
Delay time can be adjusted with the DELAY knob, affecting the time for
which the ADF stays darkened after the arc extinguishing. The MIN / MAX
values correspond to 0,1 - 1,0 s.
Sensitivity adjustment
(see Pictorial annex)
Sensitivity setting affects the intensity of light that activates darkening of
the filter. darkening of the filter. It’s recommended to start welding with
sensitivity set to HIGH first and then to slowly reduce sensitivity to the
point where ADF reacts only to the welding arc, ignoring the ambient light.
Battery replacement
(see Pictorial annex)
When the LOW BATTERY led starts glowing, replace the battery with the
proper CR2032 equivalent.
ADF holder removal
(see Pictorial annex)
•
release the locker that secures the ADF
•
remove the ADF holder from its position
•
for putting the ADF holder back, firstly place the plastic pins in the upper
part of the holder to its original place and then fasten the locker
Inner protection plate replacement
(see Pictorial annex)
•
put your finger into the hole in the middle of the top of the inner pro
-
tection plate
•
pull away the protection plate with your finger, bend it and remove it
from the ADF
•
insert the new inner protection plate back by pushing in two edges first,
bending the foil over your finger and snapping the other two edges in
-
to the pins
