HOT FIL AIR MASS SENSOR
Mass air flow rate is measured by detection of heat transfer from a hot film probe because the change of
the mass air flow rate causes change in the amount of heat being transferred from the hot film probe
surface to the air flow. The airflow sensor generates a pulse so it repeatedly opens and closes between
the 5V voltage supplied from the engine control module. This results in the change of the temperature of
the hot film probe and in the change of resistance.
COMPONENT LOCATION
NORMAL
OPERATION
During ignition ON , HFM sensor outputs a voltage with respect to the intake
air flow to EMS ECU and is within the range and compensates the drift in the
value
DTC DETECTING
CONDITION
The drift in the value goes beyond the value it can be compensated
PROBABLE
CAUSES
Contaminated HFM sensor
Faulty HFM sensor
LAMP
STATUS
System Check Lamp Blinks
DTC REACTION
Engine will continue to run in default air flow
HEALING
CONDITION
Ignition Off/On
