Warning:
To reduce the risk of fire, communication cable conductors must be 26 AWG or
larger.
!

MAX 3000 BRI interfaces
The MAX 3000 BRI model is equipped with either U- or S-interface components and
configured in the factory according to each customer’s requirements.
S-type BRI model
A MAX 3000 BRI model equipped with S-interface components connects to the WAN through
a Network Termination Type 1 (NT1) device. You must install a cable from the NT1 that ends
in a 100-ohm termination. The maximum distance between the NT1 and its termination is 3280
feet (1000 m). You can install the MAX anywhere along the length of the cable. Use only cable
specifically constructed for ISDN BRI interfaces.
U-type BRI model
A MAX 3000 BRI model equipped with U-interface components connects to the WAN by
means of a nonintegral, interconnecting cable/connector set. The U-interface cable can be as
long as 18000 feet (5486 m). Use only cable specifically constructed for ISDN BRI interfaces.
Net/BRI module (expansion card) interfaces
The Net/BRI module (MX-SL-8BRIN) connects to the WAN through a Network Termination
Type 1 (NT1) device. You must install a cable from the NT1 that ends in a 100-ohm
termination. The maximum distance between the NT1 and its termination is 3280 feet (1000
m). You can install the Net/BRI module anywhere along the length of the cable. Use only cable
specifically constructed for ISDN BRI interfaces.
Note:
In Belgium, install 10 meters of cable between the Net/BRI module and the NT1.
Significant data errors can result from use of shorter cables.
