Engine Removal
Refer to Figure 7-4:
1.
Chock wheels to secure mower and prevent
movement while repairs are made.
2.
Disconnect battery to prevent accidental shock. See
“Battery Assembly Removal” on page 22.
3.
For ease of access remove rear bumper guard. See
“Engine Bumper Guard Removal” on page 16.
4.
Open engine oil drain valve and drain the engine oil
into an appropriate waste oil container.
Refer to Figure 7-5:
5.
Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter and drain
fuel tanks as needed. Open fuel drain valve on the
engine carburetor and drain fuel from the engine.
See the engine manual for more information.
6.
Cut and remove the plastic zip ties on the throttle
cable, choke cable and connecting wiring harness.
7.
Loosen engine clamps on both the throttle and choke
cables. Mark each cable for reference and
disconnect the throttle and choke cables from the
engine.
8.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the engine:
Engine ground, start solenoid ground, magneto, fuel
shut off solenoid, regulator, start solenoid power
supply, starter main power, clutch, and oil pressure
sender wire.
Refer to Figure 7-6:
9.
Remove floor panel to access the over center latch.
See “Floor Panel Removal” on page 15. Loosen
deck belt tension by pulling the securing pin on the
over center latch assembly and rotate counter
clockwise to disengage the latch. Remove belt from
the clutch.
10. Loosen and remove the idler tensioner arm to
provide enough slack in the hydraulic drive belt to roll
the belt off and remove the hydraulic drive belt.
11. Loosen and remove the clutch stop and engine bolts
securing the engine. Take care in removing these
bolts as they are installed into the engine block
assembly.
12. With a hoist on the engine lift points, lift the engine
assembly out of the frame. The clutch, hydraulic
drive pulley, and air cleaner assembly may be
removed after engine removal.
NOTE: Ensure that mower is cooled before
performing any repair around the engine and
muffler to prevent accidental burning
