Engine Installation
Refer to Figure 7-7:
1.
Assemble components for the unit specification to
the engine. Install muffler, air cleaner, oil drain valve,
and oil sender to the engine. Temporarily install the
engine pulley spacer, hydraulic drive pulley, and the
clutch. Do not tighten the clutch assembly until
reinstalling the belts.
2.
Install engine spacer plate with the cut out to the
front of the engine and install the alignment studs on
two opposing corners of the engine though the
engine spacer plate.
3.
With a hoist on the engine lift points, lower the engine
assembly into the frame. Align the clutch stop
rotation tabs to fit though the frame. Lower the
engine alignment studs into the main frame and
ensure that the engine is centered on the frame.
Refer to Figure 7-8:
4.
Remove the alignment studs and secure the engine
assembly to the main frame with washers, spring
lock washers and bolts. Apply two drops of blue loc-
tite to the threads of each bolt and tighten until the
spring lock washer is fully compressed against the
washers, approximately 15-18 ft/lbs.
5.
Route and connect the wiring harness to the engine:
Engine ground, start solenoid ground, magneto, fuel
shut off solenoid, regulator, start solenoid power
supply, starter main power, clutch, and oil pressure
sender wire. See “Wiring Harness Installation” on
page 24.
6.
Route and install the throttle and choke cables to the
engine. See “Control Panel Installation” on page
12.
Refer to Figure 7-9:
7.
Align and install the hydraulic drive belt to the engine
assembly. See “Ground Drive Belt Removal &
Installation” on page 64.
8.
Align and install clutch and deck drive belt. See
“Clutch Installation” on page 40.
9.
Fill the engine with 10w30 motor oil. See the engine
manual for more information for engine specs.
10. Connect the fuel line with the engine fuel filter and
secure with fuel line clamp.
11. Test unit for proper operation and set the engine to
correct idle and run RPM. See the engine manual for
more information for specific engine settings.
12. Secure all cables, hoses and wiring to the frame
mounting points with plastic zip ties.
NOTE: Aligning studs may be installed in the
engine block to assist in assembly of the engine to
the frame. The alignment stud is a 3/8"-16 X 2" long
bolt with the head rounded off.
