RUN A UROFLOW TEST
A Uroflow test is a measurement of the rate at which urine flows out of the body. It can be performed with the
software’s automatic method or it can be performed with manual control of the software.
Make sure the battery is fully charged before the start of the test.

AUTO METHOD
STEP
1
Gather the supplies needed for a Uroflow test. (Urocap™ IV, beaker, commode chair, funnel, and
straight catheter).

Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet.

Place the funnel on the plastic frame of the commode chair.

Carefully place the Urocap™ IV on the floor or on an approved Uroflow transducer stand.

Gently place a graduated beaker on top of the Urocap™ IV.

Place the commode chair and funnel over the Urocap™ IV and beaker. Make sure the beaker and the
funnel are aligned but not touching.

Turn on the computer and then turn on the printer.

Invite the patient to get ready to take the test.

Double-click the Urocap™ IV shortcut icon on the
computer desktop.

Make sure the Urocap™ IV is connected.

Click the Uroflow Auto Recording button on the control panel.

Confirm that all channels display zero values.

CAUTION! DO NOT TOUCH the beaker during voiding.

Instruct the patient to void; provide privacy if possible.

The graph will start scrolling once flow is detected and will automatically stop 50 seconds after voiding
ends.

When the
Patient Information
screen appears, enter information, as necessary, and click OK.

Straight catheterize patient to obtain post void residual measurement.
Remove the catheter.

When the
Voiding Summary
screen appears enter the
PVR value and click OK.
