Installing the Inverter/Charger
Mounting to the Negative Battery Terminal
To mount the sensor on the negative battery terminal:
1. Select the battery to be monitored. The BTS should be
connected to the battery bank that is directly connected to
the inverter/charger.
2. Switch off all devices operating from the battery, or open
the battery switch (if present) to disconnect the battery.
3. Wait 10 minutes for any explosive battery gases to
dissipate.
4. Remove the nut that connects existing wiring ring
terminals to the battery negative terminal stud.
5. Move or reorient the existing wiring ring terminals on the
battery negative terminal stud, so there is a flat surface on
which to seat the BTS mounting plate.
You may need to bend the ring terminal crimp and/or
wires slightly downward to allow the sensor to seat flush
to the top surface of the upper ring terminal.
6. Mount the sensor directly on top of the ring terminal, as
shown in Figure 12, and firmly tighten the terminal nut.

FIRE HAZARD
Install the DC wire on the battery terminal, then install the sensor on top of
the DC wire. This sequence is required to provide the best connection to
the battery and to ensure correct performance of the sensor.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death or serious injury.
