Check the length of
the P.T.O. shaft
Connect the machine to the tractor without the P.T.O. shaft.
Stop the tractor, remove the ignition key and secure the tractor to
prevent it from rolling.
Shorten the P.T.O.
shaft
Pull the P.T.O. shaft apart.
Install one half to the tractor's P.T.O. socket.
Install the other half to the machine's P.T.O. input shaft.
Place the two halves of the shaft next to each other and:
•
Check to see that the halves of the shafts have a minimum
overlap of 200 mm (8") [b].
•
Check to see that the P.T.O. shaft has a minimum clearance of
20 mm (7/8") [a].
Shorten both profiled and protective tubes to the same dimensions.
Deburr the ends of both profile tubes.
Clean the profile tubes of metal bits and the like.
Lubricate the sliding surfaces of the profile tubes well.
Install and put together the two halves of the shaft.
