6.1.16.3 The EPA plotting on the screen
The EPA data is displayed for 10 minutes on the screen. Up to 5 plots are available.
When the 6
th
plot is entered, the plot 1 will be deleted automatically.
6.1.16.4 Alarm display
When 10 minutes has elapsed since a target has been plotted on the screen, the
system concludes that reliability of the plot data is lost, and accordingly turns on the
audio alarm together with the screen message “UNRELIABLE PLOT DATA” and the
blinking symbol shown. Responding to the audible alarm and the screen message,
you must update the plot. If you leave the plotted data without updating for 15 minutes,
all symbols and data currently plotted on the screen will be automatically deleted.
6.1.16.5 Explanation of the EPA wordings
EPA TRUE (REL):
This shows the bearing mode of EPA. The screen display (EPA TRUE) in Figure 6.2
shows that EPA is in true bearing mode. To switch to relative bearing mode, press the
TRUE/REL key. Each press of the key toggles the bearing mode between TRUE and
REL.

These figures represent the number of a target acquired. When no target is acquired,
all figures will be replaced by dots.
AGE:
The time elapsed from when a target is plotted. The unit is in minute(s).
CPA (Closest Point of Approach):
The closest distance of a plotted target to own ship. The unit is in nautical mile(s).
