4.7.2 Ship’s heading set up
CAL MENU: HDG
Adjusts the bearing of the radar picture shown on the screen. First, take an optical
bearing of a stationary target located within a viewable range using a standard
magnetic compass on the ship. Then measure the target bearing on the radar. If the
deviation is found more than +/- 1 degree on the screen, carry out the following
procedure for correction.
(1) Move the Joystick up or down to highlight the 4 digit figures shown next to the
HDG sign and press the ENT key.
(2) Press the Joystick left or right to change the bearing, in order to set the radar echo
bearing to coincide with the compass bearing.
(4) Press the ENT key to fix the bearing.
4.7.3 Setting the STC characteristic
CAL MENU: HEIGHT
This soft key is used to set the most suited Anti-Clutter Sea control characteristic that
varies depending on the height of the radar antenna from the sea level. The variable
range of the figure is from 0 to 8, which does not represent an actual height but is an
index of the characteristic law. Select the most suited figure while the radar picture is
shown.
4.7.4 Performance Monitor initial setup
CAL MENU: PM TUNE
A calibration of the performance monitor must be made when the radar set is installed
or the magnetron or the Receiver Front End module (MIC, or Microwave Integrated
Circuit) is replaced in a course of repair. To carry out the calibration:
(1) Highlight the figure(s) shown right to the words PM TUNE and press the ENT key
to set the ready-to-select status.
(2) Press the Joystick to the right or left to make the performance monitor video image
become the largest.
(3) Press the ENT key to fix the tuning for the Performance Monitor.
(4) Highlight the word CALIBRATION shown below and to the right of the PM TUNE
sign.
(5) Press the ENT key to complete the calibration. The RX, TX, and SYSTEM
Bar graphs will be fully displayed, as a result.
