Returning to the Captain’s seat, pull back on the system B pitch trim lever to select approximately 5 degrees
nose-up trim (the start of the white band on the tail trim indicator gauge).
We’re now almost ready to taxi. Move over to the Flight Engineer’s PFCU panel. During the start procedure the
PFCUs can disconnect, rendering the flight controls inoperable. Move each switch to
NORMAL
. The switches
are spring-loaded and will return to the centre position once you release them. Do this also for the spoilers and
both feel motors.
Taxi
We are now ready to push back from the gate.
Release the parking brake and then press
[Shift]+[P]
to begin pushback from the gate.
Once the aircraft has been pushed back far enough from the terminal building for you to carry out a turn onto the
taxiway, press
[Shift]+[P]
to stop pushback.
Set the flaps to the
T/O
position (one notch) and confirm their position using the position indicators below the
engine instruments on the front centre panel.
