VC10 Professional – Operations Manual

The Super and RAF variants include an additional fuel tank which is located inside the fin. The layout of the fuel
panel in those variants differs from the Standard VC10 to accommodate the necessary gauges and controls for
this additional tank.
Fuel system
Overview
Fuel is carried in seven integral tanks:
• Three in each wing:
o Left wing – 1A (outboard), 1, 2
o Right wing – 3, 4, 4A (outboard)
• One in the centre section
Fuel is supplied to each engine from its own tank (i.e. No.1, 2, 3 and 4 tanks to No.1, 2, 3 and 4 engines). The
centre tank supplies the wing tanks.
Fuel is gravity-fed from tanks 1A/4A to tanks 1/4 and fuel is pumped from the centre tank to the main wing tanks.
Inter-engine and crossfeed valves are provided, allowing fuel to be supplied from any tank to any engine.
A portion of fuel from No.1, 2, 3 and 4 tanks can be dumped, and all centre tank fuel can be dumped.
