Start-Up
Dampers
When the start-up wizard OARAEX enable option is
set to enable, then run the outside/return/exhaust air
damper check below (repeat the steps for outside air,
return air, and exhaust air).
• The unit controller commands the outside air and
return air damper to 50% open, displays that the
dampers are opening to half, then waits 85 seconds
• When the 50% damper position feedback
value is 50% ± 10%, the unit controller moves
to the next step
• Otherwise, the unit controller displays that
the current test has failed. The damper test
is reported as failed and the start-up wizard
continues to the next damper test
• The unit controller commands the outside air
damper to 100% open, the return air damper to
0% open, displays that the damper position is out-
side air only, then waits 85 seconds
• When the outside air damper position feed-
back value is 100% ± 10% and the return air
damper position is 0% ± 10%, the unit con-
troller moves to the next step
• Otherwise, the unit controller displays that
the current test has failed. The damper test
is reported as failed and the start-up wizard
continues to the next damper test
• The unit controller commands the outside air
damper to 0% open, the return air damper to
100% open, displays that the damper position is
outside air only, then waits 85 seconds
• When the outside air damper position feed-
back value is 0% ± 10% and the return air
damper position is 100% ± 10%, the test
passes
• Otherwise, the unit controller displays that
the current test has failed
• The test results for the outside air and return air
damper are recorded, and the start-up wizard dis-
plays the option to continue
When the start-up wizard OARAEX enable option is set
to enable and there is a modulating exhaust damper in-
stalled, the start-up wizards runs the following exhaust
damper checks
• The unit controller commands the exhaust air
damper to 50%, displays that the damper is open-
ing to half, then waits 85 seconds
• When the 50% damper position feedback
value is 50% ± 10%, the unit controller moves
to the next step
• Otherwise, the unit controller displays that
the current test has failed. The damper test
is reported as failed and the start-up wizard
continues to the next damper test
• The unit controller commands the exhaust air damp-
er to 100% open, displays that the exhaust damper
position is fully open, then waits 85 seconds
• When the exhaust air damper position feed-
back value is 100% ± 10%, the unit controller
moves to the next step
• Otherwise, the unit controller displays that
the current test has failed. The damper test
is reported as failed and the start-up wizard
continues to the next damper test
• The unit controller commands the exhaust air
damper to 0% open, displays that damper posi-
tion is fully closed, then waits 85 seconds
• When the exhaust air damper position is 0%
± 10%, the test passes
• Otherwise, the unit controller displays that
the current test has failed
• The test results for the exhaust air damper are
recorded, and the start-up wizard displays the op-
tion to continue
The start-up wizard checks to see if the unit is a twin-
ning unit. If it is, then run the isolation damper checks.
If it is not, then skip to the ERW checks.
Energy Recovery Wheel (ERW)
When the unit has an ERW installed AND the start-up
wizard ERW enable option is set to enable, the start-up
wizard runs the ERW checks below.
Steps to check ERW bypass dampers:
• The unit controller commands the ERW bypass
dampers to open, waits 60 seconds, then prompts
the user to check the status of the damper and
select either yes or no
• When the user to selects yes, the unit con-
troller moves to the next test
• When the user selects no, the ERW test is
marked as failed, and the start-up wizard ter-
minates the ERW test and records the failed
test result
