The
logging
Global Configuration mode command logs messages to a syslog server. To
delete the syslog server with the specified address from the list of syslogs, use the
no
form
of this command.
Syntax

Parameters
•
ip-address
— IP address of the host to be used as a syslog server.
•
hostname
— Specifies the host name of the syslog server. (Range: 1-158 characters)
•
port
— Specifies the port number for syslog messages. (Range: 1-65535)
•
level
— Specifies the severity level of logged messages sent to the syslog servers.
Possible values:
emergencies, alerts
,
critical
,
errors, warnings
,
notifications,
informational
and
debugging
.
•
facility
— Specifies the facility that is indicated in the message. Possible values:
local0, local1, local2, local3, local4, local5, local 6, local7
.
•
text
— Syslog server description. (Range: 1-64 characters)
Default Configuration
The default port number is 514.
The default logging message level is
informational
.
The default facility is local7.

User Guidelines
Up to 8 syslog servers can be used.
If no specific severity level is specified, the global values apply to each server.
