PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Blom-Singer Indwelling Valved Insert and Plug Insert are
made of silicone, a biocompatible material used in many medical
products. They are available in two models as shown in the chart

Indwelling Valved Insert
The Indwelling Valved Insert (diagram 1) is designed to prevent
esophageal leakage through the voice prosthesis and to enable
voice production until such time that the voice prosthesis and
TEP is evaluated by a clinician. The Indwelling Valved Insert
consists of a body that holds the valve assembly (diagram 1a), a
neck strap with safety hole (diagram 1b), and an indwelling insert
holder (diagram 1c). The Indwelling Valved Insert may be inserted
by the user.
The Indwelling Valved Insert must not be used in conjunction
with the Blom-Singer Adjustable Tracheostoma Valve (ATSV).
Plug Insert
The Plug Insert (diagram 2) is designed to prevent esophageal
leakage through the voice prosthesis until such time that the
voice prosthesis and TEP is evaluated by a clinician; it does not
allow voicing. The Plug Insert consists of a plug tip (diagram 2a)
and neck strap with safety hole (diagram 2b). The Plug Insert may
be inserted by the user.
