The best way to keep your knife in excellent
condition is to sharpen it at regular intervals-
once a week for ordinary household use. If
a knife has become very blunt as a result of
long use or carelessness, or if the cutting edge
has become damaged, you may need to have
the blade professionally sharpened to restore
its edge.
Always use a sharpener in a harder material
than the knife you want to sharpen. BRILJERA
sharpening steel is made of diamond coated
steel which means that it can be used for
sharpening all knives.
How to use a sharpner
─
Hold the sharpener firmly in one hand.
─
Place the heel of the knife (closest to the
handle) against the tip of the sharpener.
With the knife at an angle to the
sharpener, swipe it against the side or
sharpener using an arc motion, as shown
in the figure.
─
Repeat he procedure on the other side
so that both sides of the blade are
sharpened.
─
Continue until the knife is as sharp as
you want it to be. Be careful when you
check the sharpness of the knife! Test
it against your nail, never against your
fingertip.
Cleaning
Wash the sharpening steel by hand.
