Running a replication policy on a directory
About this task
File system directories and their contents can be individually replicated according
to preexisting replication policies. Directory replication can be invoked when
viewing a file system in the Directories navigation view. All data that does not
previously exist on the destination repository will be replicated.
Procedure
Follow the steps to manually run a policy on a specific folder:
1.
In the Systems Management view, select a file system from the navigation pane.
2.
Click on the Directory navigation tab to display the file system directories.
Tip:
You can also click on the replication directory.
3.
Select the directory on which to run the replication policy that has been
previously defined as a replication directory.
4.
Right-click on the selected directory and choose Directory replication. If there
are no policies defined on the selected folder, an error message displays that
there are no policies defined.
5.
Click Yes to confirm and begin replication.
Disabling FSI replication policies
This topic describes how to disable a replication policy in an FSI environment.
About this task
Attention:
Disabling a replication policy is not recommended. When a replication
policy is disabled in FSI, the replication destination directory (
/rdd
) that is
associated with the policy becomes unusable for any additional policies. A new or
modified
/rdd
must be used when the policy is reactivated.
Procedure
Follow the steps to disable an FSI replication policy:
1.
From the Systems Management view, select Replication Policies from the
navigation pane.
2.
From the Replication Policies list, select an enabled policy to disable.
3.
Choose Replication > Replication Policy > Disable replication policy. The
Disable replication policy
window is displayed with a warning that all of the
replication destination directories will no longer be usable and all pending and
running activities will be cancelled.
4.
Type yes to confirm the operation and click Ok. The replication policy is
deactivated and a red X appears in the Enabled column of the Replication
Policies
list.
What to do next
The replication destination directory that was associated with the policy before it
was disabled is now unusable for other policies. To use the existing data on the
/rdd
, run the Take ownership of a replication directory procedure and replicate
the existing data to a different source. See “Taking ownership of a replication
destination directory” on page 120 for more information. Once all the data is
