name) and press Enter. The list of shares is displayed.

Migrating between Workgroup and Active Directory authentication
This topic describes how to migrate back and forth between Workgroup
authentication and Active Directory authentication.
About this task
When you configure FSI on your system, selecting an authentication type in
ProtecTIER Manager requires that the host be configured in the same manner.
Procedure
If the authentication type was previously configured for managing data with CIFS,
and shares were created accordingly, a number of steps must be taken to change
the authentication type. Specifically, the shares must be modified to activate, or
add users, and set user permissions.
The following task explains how to migrate between authentication types,
beginning with migration from Workgroup authentication to Active Directory.
Note:
It is possible that migrating between authentication types can cause data
files to become inaccessible. When setting authentication, each user has its own
UID and GID. When changing the authentication, if the new user does not have
the exact same UID and GID, the new user will have limited privileges, or no
access at all, to files. If the original UID and GID cannot be kept, contact a trained
ProtecTIER specialist for instructions on how to perform the migration, while
keeping file accessibility.
1.
From the Systems Management view, select CIFS > Authentication > Set
Authentication mode
. The Authentication setup wizard is displayed.
2.
Select the Active directory authentication type. A popup window appears
with a message that existing data may become inaccessible.
3.
Click Ok and click Next. The Domain window is displayed.
4.
Type a name for the Domain in the Domain field. Click Next. The Realm
window is displayed.
5.
The Realm allows user in one domain to access resources in another domain.
Type a name for the realm in the Realm field. Click Next. The Servers
window is displayed.
