Using the Port Tester
You can use this IBM Workstation Controller Port Tester (IBM P/N 94X2040)
to isolate cabling and port problems on the 5500 Control Unit.
Attach the port tester directly to one of the following:
• 5500 Control Unit twinax port or cable
• Twisted-pair 5500 Control Unit port or cable
- This only works for RJ11 pins 2 and 5
• Twinax adapter on an IBM Cabling System
The port tester monitors signals from the twinax ports on the 5500 Control
Unit. Cables being checked must be connected to a 5500 twinax port.
Attention: Remove and reconnect cables carefully. You may damage the
connectors if you use force.
