Electrical
The 5500 Express IP Control Unit contains a 200W power supply with switch
settings from 90 to 132 VRMS and 180 to 264 VRMS. The power supply
operates from 48 through 63 Hertz.
Powering On
To prevent an unnecessary power loss, the 5500 Express IP Control Unit does
not provide a power switch. To power on the unit, connect the power cord
(refer to Figure 20 on page 52) and plug the cord into a receptacle.
Electrical Wiring Requirements
IBM recommends that you connect the 5500 Control Unit to a branch circuit
of 15 amperes. For safe and proper operation, this circuit must be grounded to
a dedicated equipment ground, not to a neutral ground. Do not use conduit as
the only grounding means.
IBM is not responsible for power outlet wiring.
Installing and Configuring Process
Following is an abbreviated flow of the installation and configuration
processes. This manual provides extensive step-by-step instructions on
completing each of these tasks.
1. Verify that the minimum hardware and software requirements are
available.
2. Set up the 5500 Control Unit by physically connecting a client
workstation with IP address 10.1.1.2 to the port 0, address 0 of the
5500 Control Unit’s 8-port breakout box.
3. Set up the initial configuration from this client workstation by
accessing the 5500 Control Unit’s ConfigurationPlus program. Use
