Configuring Your System and Network
93
NDMP Service
If the option to start NDMP services is grayed out, NDMP services are currently
running; otherwise, NDMP services are stopped. To change the status of NDMP
Service:
1. In Command View NAS, click the Configuration tab.
2. Navigate to NDMP Properties.
3. Select Actions > Start (or Stop) NDMP Service.
Log Messaging Level
The message log allows you to set verbose or terse logging. When terse logging is
set, NDMP error messages still appear in the log file, but the verbose messaging is
turned off. Logging should be set to terse unless there is a need for debugging.
Also note that when verbose logging is enabled, the message log may grow in size
very quickly. The export menu item allows you to export the message log file to
another location. You may need to export the message log when troubleshooting.
1. In Command View NAS, click the Configuration tab.
2. Navigate to NDMP Properties.
3. From the Actions menu, you can select:
— Edit Log Message Level to enable or disable verbose log capability.
— Export Message Log to save the message log information in another file
location.
— Clear NDMP Message Log to delete all data in the log. You should do
this as part of routine maintenance.
NDMP Data Ports
NDMP data ports allow you to move files from one NAS Server, through the
LAN, to a tape drive attached to another NAS Server. However, you must select
the correct ports.
To specify the ports:
1. In Command View NAS, click the Configuration tab.
2. Navigate to NDMP Properties
3. Select Actions > Edit NDMP Data Port.
4. Select the correct port from the dialog box.
5. Click OK.
