Configuring Your System and Network
56
Shutting Down and Restarting
Shutdown/Restart applies only to the NAS server. When shutting down or
restarting, keep in mind that:
■
You and any other connected users will lose the connection to the device.
■
Command View NAS in the current browser cache becomes invalid. The
browser closes and you must re-connect to the system after it reboots.
Note:
High-availability systems have several shutdown options, explained below.
When to Shut Down or Restart
Shut down the NAS server if you:
■
Move the device to a new location.
■
Anticipate a power outage in your building and you do not have an
uninterruptible power supply for the device.
■
Need to shut down a dedicated storage array.
Restart the NAS server if you install a new version of Command View NAS.
Note:
When you restart the NAS server in a dedicated storage configuration, you do
not need to shut down or restart the storage array.
Shutdown/Restart Procedure
To shut down or restart the device:
1. In Command View NAS, click the Configuration tab.
2. Navigate to Shutdown/Restart.
3. Select Actions > Shutdown/Restart.
4. Select:
— Shutdown to shut down the NAS server completely.
— Shutdown/Restart to shut down and restart the NAS server. If you have
installed new firmware, the system uses it on restart. It will take about five
minutes to restore the system.
5. Click OK.
