Snapshot Properties
To edit snapshot properties:
1. In Command View NAS, click the Configuration tab.
2. Navigate to NDMP Properties.
3. Select Actions > Edit Snapshot Properties.
4. Enter the Snapshot Volume Percentage. This lets you define the size of the
snapshot in terms of the percentage of the original volume’s space. Set the
value between 10 and 100 percent. The default value is 10.
5. Select the Snapshot Behavior. This controls the behavior of taking snapshots
for the backup session. Your choices are:
— Backup without Snapshot (default).
— Backup with Failsafe Snapshot. Uses the snapshot method, but if the
snapshot fails, the backup continues without a snapshot.
— Backup with Snapshot. Uses a snapshot during the backup. If you select
this option, be sure the snapshot volume percentage field is large enough
to accommodate the snapshot for the backup.
6. Click OK.
Note:
You can not performing incremental NDMP backups with snapshots. If you need
to perform an incremental backup, select
Backup Without Snapshot
.
When using snapshots, NDMP creates the snapshot just before the backup, then
backs up data from this snapshot. After you perform a backup the snapshot is
removed.
Note:
NDMP creates a snapshot for each file volume. Therefore, a point-in-time copy
applies only to a single volume. If your application stores data in two or more volumes,
the snapshot backup will not provide a consistent point-in-time copy of the files.
