Table 34 MP Router scalability rules
Edge fabric scalability
24
Maximum number of front domains (number of EX_Ports) per edge fabric
Domains
(see
Figure 46
)
33
Maximum number of translate domains (number of remote fabrics) per edge fabric
34
Maximum number of real domains (local switches) per edge fabric
80
Maximum number of domains per edge fabric (real d front d translate
domains)
Note:
The total number of domains in the first three rows must not exceed 80.
1,280
Maximum number of local and remote devices per edge fabric. (For edge fabrics with more
than 600 devices, 4.2.0c or later is required for all switches in the fabric when using the
MP Router.)
Devices (user ports)
1,000
Maximum number of imported devices per edge fabric
LSAN zone scalability
200
Maximum number of entries per LSAN zone
Note:
LSAN zones support WWN-based zoning only.
Zoning
Meta SAN scalability
34
Maximum number of edge fabrics connected in a Meta SAN
Edge fabrics
12,800
Maximum number of total ports per Meta SAN
Meta SAN
14
Maximum number of MP Routers per Meta SAN
Routers
10,000
Maximum number of LSAN device entries (proxy devices) per Meta SAN
LSAN
1,000
Maximum number of LSAN zones per Meta SAN
Hop count scalability
12
Maximum number of hops between switches (including routers) in a Meta SAN (
Figure 45
)
Hop count
NOTE:
For configurations that have an MP Router with a 400 MP Router or MP Router Blade in the same
Meta SAN, apply the 400 MP Router and MP Router Blade scalability rules
(lowest-common-denominator limits apply). See
Table 32
on page 119.
MP Router hop count
The MP Router counts the same as a Fibre Channel switch is counted with respect to fabric hop count
(
Figure 45
). Devices communicating across fabrics through an MP Router must adhere to both the
B-series 7-hop limit within an edge fabric and the MP Router 12-hop limit.
