How It Works:
The sensor uses the principle of impedance variation caused by eddy currents induced
into a conductive metal target. The coupling between a coil in the Z-axis Sensor and a flat
metal plate on the opposite head is dependent on the gap or displacement between the
heads.

Air Gap Temperature
An air gap sensor is mounted on each side of the sheet to monitor the temperature of the
air entering the gap from both sides of the sheet. These readings are then combined to
produce an average air gap temperature.
The air gap sensors are normally mounted in line with the basis weight sensor because the
primary use of the air temperature measurement is to correct for errors in weight
measurements caused by changes in the density of the air column between the heads.
How It Works:
The sensor consists of a thermistor mounted in a nozzle assembly through which air is
pulled by a venturi effect.

Operator Stations
Operator stations appear as desktop stations, for clean environments, or the
Environmental Operator Station, for harsher environments. These stations provide the
operator interface between the Experion MX System and the process line. The operator
station includes a monitor (touch screen optional), a pointing device (mouse), and a
keyboard. The monitor provides interactive color displays. The mouse or touch screen, if
available, allows you to access the various display functions and to control the process.
The operator station provides interactive color-coded alphanumeric and graphic displays
to perform a variety of tasks, including processing information, control loop operations,
and so on.
