Two front airbags. The driver’s
airbag is stored in the centre of
the steering wheel; the front
passenger’s airbag is stored in the
dashboard. Both are marked ‘‘SRS
AIRBAG.’’
Your Supplemental Restraint System
(SRS) includes:
Automatic seat belt tensioners
that tighten the front seat belts
during a moderate to severe
frontal collision (see page
).
Sensors that can detect a
moderate to severe frontal
collision.
If you ever have a moderate to
severe frontal collision, the sensors
will detect rapid deceleration and
signal the control unit to instantly
inflate the front airbags and activate
the automatic seat belt tensioners.
Emergency backup power in case
your car’s electrical system is
disconnected in a crash.
An indicator on the instrument
panel that alerts you to a possible
problem with the system (see
page
).
A sophisticated electronic system
that continually monitors
information about the sensors, the
control unit, and the airbag
activators when the ignition switch
is in the ON (II) position.
