SECTION 6: MAINTENANCE
For optimum performance from this machine, this
maintenance schedule must be strictly followed.
Ongoing:
To maintain a low risk of injury and proper
machine operation, if you ever observe any of the
items below, shut down the machine immediately
and fix the problem before continuing operations:
•
Lubricate glue spindle (see
Page 44).
•
Check for dull or damaged flush-trimmer
knives (see
Page 52).
•
Worn or damaged wires.
•
Any other unsafe condition.
Schedule
Cleaning &
Protecting
To reduce risk of shock,
accidental startup, and
injury, always disconnect
machine from power and
air before adjustments,
maintenance, or service.
Weekly Maintenance
•
Clean off any glue residue on machine.
•
Drain water in air filter collection cups.
•
Lubricate flush-trimmer adjustment shafts
(see
Page 45).
•
Clean and lubricate guillotine assemblies.
•
Blow dust out of motor fans with compressed
air.
Monthly Check
•
Clean/vacuum dust buildup from all edge-
banding components and motors.
•
Lubricate edgebanding feed gears (see
Page 45).
•
Lubricate flush-trimmer adjustment shafts.
•
Motor belt tension, damage, or wear.
•
Conveyor belt tension, damage, or wear.
•
Inspect entire machine for loose parts or
signs of abnormal wear.
Protect the unpainted cast iron surfaces on the
table by wiping the table clean after every use—
this ensures moisture from wood dust does not
remain on bare metal surfaces.
Keep tables rust-free with regular applications of
products like G96
®
Gun Treatment, SLIPIT
®
, or
Boeshield
®
T-9.
The cleaning process for this machine is simple.
Vacuum excess wood chips and sawdust, and
wipe off the remaining dust with a dry cloth. If any
resin has built up, use a resin dissolving cleaner
to remove it. Treat all unpainted cast iron and steel
with a non-staining lubricant after cleaning.
