Modulation Field

The MODULATION field selects the type of modulation to be used. AM, FM,

M and PM are available

(SERIES 125XXA/127XXA ONLY)

.

AM

Press

[AM]

to select amplitude modulation. AM can be linear, expressed in percent, or Scan

(Option 29), expressed in dB with the output power being proportional to the input voltage. AM
can be internal or from an external source (Internal AM is available only when Option 24 is
installed).

Scan

To activate Scan modulation toggle the

AM mode

from linear to Scan.

FM

Press

[FM]

to select frequency modulation. FM can have a narrow bandwidth of dc to 1 MHz and a

maximum deviation of 1 MHz (in the 4 to 8 GHz range), or FM can have a bandwidth of 100 Hz to
8 MHz and a maximum deviation of 20 MHz (in the 4 to 8 GHz range). FM can be internal or from
an external source (Internal FM is available only when Option 24 is installed).

then use the mode parameter to select phase modulation.

to select pulse modulation. PM can be internal or from an external source (Internal PM

Input Field

The INPUT field contains four BNC connectors. External modulation sources can be applied to the AM,
