3. Taking an Exposure

10. Look at the refl ection of the patient in the mir-
ror and position the
midsagittal plane
of the
patient so that it coincides with the midsagittal
plane laser.
Make sure that the patient is looking straight
ahead and that the patient’s head is not tilted or
turned to one side.
Correct
Incorrect
11. Press either
Up/Down
key to adjust the tilt of
the patient’s head so that it is in the correct posi-
tion for the exposure you are taking.
For a
panoramic
exposure position the patient’s
Frankfort plane
so that it coincides with, or is
parallel to the horizontal laser.
For a
bitewing
exposure position the patient’s
Occlusal plane
so that it coincides with, or is
parallel to the horizontal laser.
