3. Taking an Exposure

3. Place the appropriate hygienic barrier on to the
patient support you are using.
4. Select the panoramic program you require,
panoramic (Pan) or bitewing (B/W).
The magnifi cation for these programs is 1.25.
5. Select the patient size, large, medium or small.
The exposure and DAP values will appear on
the display.
NOTE:
If you select small panoramic the width of the
image will be reduced.
6. Ask the patient to remove any eye glasses, den-
tures, jewellery, hair clips and pins.
Place a protective lead apron over the patient’s
shoulders.
NOTE:
If the patient is nervous about the exposure pro-
cedure you can reassure them by demonstrating
how the unit works before taking the exposure.
