grinDing fOr a french Press Or Plunger
follow these easy steps for a great cup.
1. using a variable temperature kettle, heat the appropriate volume of water to
93°c. this is an ideal temperature for brewing coffee. Do not use boiling water.
2. turn the grind size collar or bean hopper to select the grind size setting 50.
3. By turning the GrIND tIMe dial, select the grind amount for the number of cups
you wish to brew. see: ›selecting the Grind size and Grind Amount‹.
4. Place a sufficient container under the grind outlet and press the stArt/cANcel
button to start the coffee Grinder.
5. fill the ground coffee in the plunger vessel.
6. Pour the heated water into the plunger vessel in a swirling manner to ensure all
the coffee powder is soaked and the plunger vessel is full. the “bloom” (expan-
ding coffee and steam) should reach the top.
7. using a timer, wait 4 minutes.
8. using a spoon, break the “crust” (the bloom becomes dense and a bit hard).
9. Insert the plunger and carefully press down. Do not press too hard. Gently
release pressure by pulling the plunger up slightly and press down again, if you
have pressed too hard.
10. enjoy your coffee.
sOlving PrOBlems

Coffee Grinder does not
start after pressing the
START/CANCEL button.
Coffee Grinder is not live.
Connect the appliance to power outlet.
Check the power outlet via connecting a lamp.
Bean hopper not attached
correctly.
Lock bean hopper into position. See: ›Preparing the Cof-
fee Grinder for Operation‹.
Grinder has overheated.
Leave for 30 minutes to cool down before using again.
GRIND TIME dial is on 0
seconds.
Rotate the GRIND TIME dial to an appropriate grinding
time.
Motor starts but no coffee
powder is coming from the
grind outlet.
No coffee beans in bean
hopper.
Fill bean hopper with fresh coffee beans.
Grinding chamber or bean
hopper are blocked.
Remove bean hopper. Remove blockage from bean hop-
per and grinding burrs. Replace parts and try again. See:
›Care and Cleaning‹.
Motor starts but operates
with an unusual noise.
Grinder is blocked with
foreign item or grind outlet
is blocked.
Remove bean hopper, inspect burrs and remove any
foreign body.
Clean the burrs and grind outlet, see: ›Care and Clea-
ning‹.
Moisture is clogging grin-
der.
Clean the burrs and grind outlet. Leave burrs dry tho-
roughly before reassembling (see: ›Care and Cleaning‹).
You may use a hair dryer for blowing air into the grin-
ding chamber to quicken the drying process.
You cannot mount the
bean hopper on the grinder
correctly.
Coffee beans are blocking
the bean hopper lock.
Remove bean hopper. Remove coffee beans from top
of the burrs. Replace the bean hopper into position and
try again.
The bean hopper lock is
turned to “LOCK”, while
you are placing the bean
hopper onto the grinder.
Turn the bean hopper lock to UNLOCK position and push
the bean hopper down onto grinder. Then turn the lock
back to the LOCK position.
