ELEMENTS WITH TYRES
The seed placing depth is properly determined when the tyre
laterally to the disc rests on the ground.
Adjustable rubber limiter with large cross-section (115 mm) ideal
for loose or tilled soil.
NOTE: it is not suitable for wet or stony soil.
This con
fi
guration offers best advantages when frequent adjustment
of the seeding depth is required (directly in the
fi
eld).
In order to adjust the seeding depth, proceed as follows (Fig. 43):
1) Extract the pin (4)
2) Hoist or lower the wheel (5) to reach the desired position depen-
ding on the seeding type and based on the available holes
3) Reinsert the pin (4) by fastening it with the split pin.
WARNING: Do not act on the colter to adjust the depth with
tyres.
CUTTER DISCS
Each seeding element is equipped with a large diameter toothed
disc (475 mm) which cuts into the soil even in presence of crop
residue.
It has 3 different pro
fi
les (Fig. 44) in order to obtain the best results
possible in all soil conditions:
A)
Serrated disc (standard)
: high cutting performance,
suitable for most common “direct seeding” techniques;
B)
Serrated disc (option)
: higher grip on the soil, suitable
for seeding soft and sandy soil;
C)
Smooth disc
: higher cutting performance in the presence
of crop residue, suitable for seeding hard and compact soil.
ADJUSTING THE POSITION SPRINGS
1) Each adjustment must be made on the
fi
eld with an average
load of the machine.
2) With the
tractor moving in forward direction,
place the
machine in the operating position with the discs sunk into the
ground.
3) Check that the element is in an intermediate stroke position
(Fig. 45).
4) If necessary adjust all the position springs by means of the nut
(6, Fig. 45) until you reach the position described at point 3).
5) Make sure that the machine is operating with a horizontal frame
(Fig. 46); only in that position can the machine load be equally
distributed between the two series of seeding elements.
Finally, it is recommended to further load the springs of the ele-
ments which operate behind the tractor wheels and to stretch the
chains or the side tie rods of the three point attachment well, to
give stability to the machine.
WHEN AND HOW TO BALLAST THE FRAME
When the ground is very hard and the position springs are very
compressed there is the risk that the total strain of the springs,
raise the frame up to the point that the drilling units arms get to the
inferior end of the run. This situation makes it impossible for the
machine to follow the depression in the ground because the drilling
units no longer have downward amplitude. In this case:
a) reduce the compression of the springs;
b) or ballast the frame with 1 or 2 crop ends square rod to inert
and
fi
x in the fram.
