Wall Mounted Unit
:
Place the tube sections on the stairway, using wooden posts to
hold them in place.
Take steps to ensure stairway pedestrians stay clear of the
tubes while they have temporary supports
. You may also use small woodscrews to
temporarily support the lift while you assemble and position it in the stairway.
Tower Mounted Unit:
First, place the tubes on the floor and loosely bolt each odd
tower to the struts. Line up the top of each tower with the top of the strut. Ensure that
the Support Tower number corresponds with the number on your tube layout drawing.
Lift the tube section into place on the stairway and lean it against the wall.
Note:
The Support Towers have the serial numbers stamped on the base.
Repeat this operation for each tower-mounted section until you come to a turnback or a
corner. Now the system will support itself without leaning it against the wall. Continue to
work your way up the system until all of the tube sections are in their approximate
location. Do not fix the unit in place yet.
Fitting the Splices:
Check each splice for damage or paint and lightly grease both ends before joining the
tube sections. Also, check for over-spray and debris inside the tubes. It is easiest to
remove this before installing the tubes. If you find paint, it must be completely removed
or the lift will have signal communication failure. A pencil grinder is one of the best ways
of removing paint from the inside of the tubes.
Figure 4.
Wood may be
used to provide temporary
support during installation.
Wood-screws are also
used to provide a
temporary means of fixing
the lift, once the fit is
confirmed.
