5.3 Electronic service brake system
5.3.1 Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
When the driver brakes, ABS automatically
monitors the slip rate of the front and rear wheels.
Before the wheels are locked, the wheel cylinder
hydraulic pressure is adjusted through the stages
such as pressure holding, depressurisation, and
pressurisation to keep the wheel slip rate within
the specified range, preventing the wheels from
being locked.
With the brake pedal depressed in an emergency,
when the ABS enters the working state, the driver
will feel the brake pedal shuddering, accompanied
by the “click” sounds when the master cylinder is
running. When the brake pedal is depressed in the
following situations, ABS works and shuddering
can be felt which is normal:
–
During gear changes.
–
During emergency braking.
–
During sharp turns at high speed.
–
When driving on slippery roads.
–
When passing over bumps or ditches.
–
When driving off immediately after starting.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS) indicator lamp
After the engine start/stop button is switched to
“ON” position, the indicator lamp
will be on for
a few seconds and go out after the system
completes self-test.
The following conditions indicate that the system
is faulty:
–
After the engine start/stop button is switched
to "ON" position, the indicator lamp
does
not come on.
–
After the engine start/stop button is switched
to “ON” position, the indicator lamp
will
not go out after it is on for a few seconds.
–
When the car is running, the indicator lamp
lights up.
–
When there is a fault in the ABS, the indicator
lamps
,
and
light up.
Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)
As a part of ABS, EBD balances the distribution of
brake force on the front and rear wheels according
to the car load during normal braking.
Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA)
HBA makes use of the pressure quickly built up in
the brake system to assist you to shorten the
braking distance in case of emergency. It fully
utilizes the characteristics of ABS. After the brake
pedal is released, HBA will be turned off
automatically, and the brake system will restore to
its normal working state.
WARNING
HBA can improve your driving safety, but it
is impossible to exceed the laws of
kinematics. Please adjust the driving speed
according to the road conditions and traffic
regulations.
