Measurements and calculations
5-13
Consider the following factors when performing volume flow measurements:
You should follow current medical practice for volume flow calculation applications.
The accuracy of the volume flow calculation largely depends on the user's measurement technique.
The factors identified in the literature that affect the accuracy are as follows:
Using the diameter method for 2D area
Precision in placing the caliper
Difficulty ensuring uniform insonation of the vessel

calculations, see the following reference:

To calculate volume flow
1
On a frozen 2D or Doppler trace, tap
Calcs
If this control is hidden, tapping
More Controls
displays it.
WARNINGS
To avoid incorrect calculations, verify that the patient information, date, and
time settings are accurate.
To avoid misdiagnosis or harming the patient outcome, start a new patient form
before starting a new patient exam and performing calculations. Starting a new
patient form clears the previous patient’s data. The previous patient’s data will
be combined with the current patient if the form is not first cleared. See
“Entering patient information”
