Terminate the
RX
and
TX
network connections on both SONAbeam terminals
through a loop connection or with a live network connection…

Power up both SONAbeam terminals…

If you are using STC, power up both notebook computers and launch their STC
software programs…
(Or, connect your digital voltmeter and set it for DC volts.)
WARNING!
If your SONAbeam terminals are located closer than 250 meters (820 feet) apart,
you will need to implement laser attenuation using the SONAbeam Terminal
Controller software…

On both notebook computers, start the
RX Power
display, as described in the
SONAbeam Terminal Controller
Software User’s Guide
. This should
produce a screen similar to that shown
opposite on both computers…
(A small value, typically less than 1

W, is caused by the offset voltage of
the receiver circuitry.)
NOTE…
Maintain constant communications with the installation crew at the other end of
the link as you proceed to assess the effects of your alignment operation…
