Operational Safety
1. Do not touch the SSW-40 while in operation.
2. All screw are tightened.
3. Make sure that ALL pneumatic lines are isolated
before any work is carried out in the SSW-40.
4. It is recommended to have the SSW-40 operated by
the driller.
5. Ensure that visual contact is always present between
the deck personnel, and the operator in the
doghouse.
6. Never open the elevator when SSW-40 operation is
not finished.
7. The driller and floor man must coordinate operation
of the elevator, slips/spider and SSW-40 so one tool
is engaged around the drill pipe before the other is
disengaged. Thus, one or both tools continuously
suspend the drill pipe during all stages of drill pipe
handling operations.
