Installing the SSW-40 to working area
1. Position the SSW-40 on a level, supporting surface
(i.e. Rig Floor). Connect the hanger line, which is
attached at an adequate position at a derrick's cross
member, with the hanger assembly at the lifting
cylinder
q
. The higher up the hanger line is, the easier
it will be to maneuver the SSW-40 to its desired
location. FORUM Handling Tools recommend the use
of a
1/2
" to
5/8
" hanger line and a distance of 2' to 3'
from the pipe centerline. This will allow an easy free
swing around the drill-hole. Position the lift cylinder at
the midpoint of its stroke and 5’ from the floor. This
will give a variance of 12” up or down the pipe.
Lift the SSW-40 slowly to the nearly final working
height
w
.
CAUTION
NEVER stand beneath or in the swing-area
of lifted loads or loads suspended from a crane.
2. Connect the SSW-40 with the two backup lines
e
,
which are attached to the derrick legs or another
comparable structure. Make sure, that both backup
lines are under tension before starting operation.
Info
SNUB LINE SENSOR
Please make sure that it is installed according to
operation:
Spin In = left hand side;
Spin out = right hand side.
NOTE
Backup line must have appropriate length.
CAUTION
NEVER cross the backup lines.
CAUTION
NEVER operate the SSW-40 without a
Snub Line Sensor.
NOTE
ALWAYS use two backup lines. Having only one
cable would allow the possibility of having the SSW-40
swing into the operator causing injury.
3. Connect the Snub Line Sensor inlet with the rig air
supply
r
and the Snub Line Sensor outlet with the
SSW-40 inlet
t
. As listed in the description, the
SSW-40 requires 250 cfm airflow at 90 to 160 psi air
pressure. When installing, use the least amount of
fittings as possible and route the air directly from the
supply keeping the distance as short as possible. In
an area, that is easily accessible and well protected,
run a 1.¼” airline up to the rig floor. This will aid in
maintenance. Use a 1.¼” shut-off valve attached to
the supply line.
Dismounting the SSW-40 from the working area
Follow the Installation guide (see chapter 3.3.1) in reverse
order.
